Out of retirement

Job Description
Being brought out of retirement following the writing of my book, Gnome Valley, on the belief that I know enough about the railway to carry on the work and development and hopefully bring it to an acceptable conclusion, I am faced with reading, understanding and then excepting the job description placed in front of me by the Chairman of the Gnome Valley Railway Company’s Management Committee.
    (Copy attached).
          Job Title.                       Chief Construction Engineer
          Employer                  Gnome Valley Railway Company

  1.   Conduct full survey to ascertain current position of work.
  2.   Evaluate the situation.
  3.   Prepare a plan of action.
  4.   Prioritize work load.
  5.   Itemize Projects
  6.   Prepare projected costing.
  7.   Make list of available tools and materials
  8.   Lay out timetable.
  9.   Keep a running progress report
  10. Keep full expenditure accounts

After careful consideration, and owing to the fact that it is my railway,( as well as it happens to be a directive laid down by ‘she who must be obeyed ’)  I feel obliged to except the job as laid out above and do my best over the coming months to carry this task. It is not the best time to be taking on such a role, but with nothing else much to do over the winter it may just be a suitable and interesting activity.
